What transmission is the one of choice when using the SC3800?

Is this the best option for some power while maintaining som fuel efficiency as well?

If you are refering to the transaxle type, out of a fiero, then a 5 spd in the best bet. The getreg is the strongest model, while the isuzu is a close runner up.
I am using an isuzu because I couldn't find a getreg in my area. I would try for the getreg if possible.

I was told that the 3800 hooks up directy to the stock FIERO trans. If you go with the sbc you have to get adapters from Renegade or Kennedy which are coastly (in the thousands).Personally,Im on the fence with engines.

I have a 5 speed Getrag (mated directly to the 3800 SC engine with no adapter plate) in a combo with a 3800 SC Series III engine. If you want an automatic just use the transmission that comes with the 3800 SC engine. The gas mileage is somewhat dependent on how hard you romp on the accelerator, but I believe that a manual transmission and the 3800 SC engine should see 25 plus mpg on the highway.
