Does anybody have pics of LS1 in their car with body mounted but without replica cover on it? What should be the distance between the "lip" at the rear window to the engine?
I have LS1 with cayman 6spd transmission, body: Cory Davis roadster, chassis: ChassisWorks. I have engine and tranny installed, body temporarly on, wheel openings are alligned with wheels and frame is 6" of the ground. The distance between top of the manifold of LS1 and the "lip" at the back of the rear window is about 0.5". Very tight. Is that normal? I will post pics when i get home.

Sebastian

Hi:

I have a D&R Roadster on a Chassis Works Chassis #001.
My Belt Tensioner is 1/4" away from the firewall stud.

You can see the Red Roadster on Page 5 of the Build Diaries.

I'll see if I can get the car cover off and the Engine Bay open for a lip measurement but it has been really cold here and it just sits.....................

DB,

I am using #002 ChassisWorks. I can see on your photos that your engine is in pretty tight space too.
When you will have a chance to check, let me know what is the distance from the engine lid/cover to the engine?
Where did you position the battery?

HI:

I will see if I can do it tonight.

I have a ton of pictures but not chance to post them anymore.

I will see if I can do some measurements from a frame rail to the deck lid bottom and some axial length measurements for the rear glass to lip.

I use carbureation and the nut on top the air cleaner is about 1/4' from the lid. I have verified this before with a small amount of clay on top the air cleaner and genlty close the lid and then measure the clay thickness.
I ended up trimming off about .100" the carb lip of the air cleaner.

The battery is up in the nose of the car. It is on center and up against the firewall. I also use remote battery cables that come off to the PASS side nose frame rail. This allows for battery charging and jumpers.

Hi:

Well, here's the dimensions for the D&R Roadster body on the ChassisWorks Gen I chassis.
1.) From Rear Window glass to fiberglass edge in Engine Bay = 3.375"
2.) From Top edge of Engine Cradle frame to top Fiberglass lipgoing aound
the Engine Bay Lip (1" wide) = 26.25"
I think you may have trimmed this lip off on your car, which is not a problem.

If you need clarification or some more info let me know.
I fired it up this weekend and let it run for awhile just to get ready for the 9" of snow coming tonight.
