Some simple rules I did not follow and I was scammed in Australia trying to have a turn key built.

Before you invest money check the builders creds with the states auto industry. Check their business creds with the states Dept of Fair Trade. Sometimes the government is helpful. Not always.

Make sure that you do not proceed until you have spoken to several customers of completed cars. Particularly when you are told they have been in the business for a long time. Keep asking until the builder gives you legitimate contacts to speak to. Do not let them change the subject. "Phone a friend" don't take a 50/50 chance!

Ask this forum before you proceed . Don't just scan the forum for evidence. Ask because the information is here, its around in peoples experience just not evident in writing.

Travel and see the work shop, the cars and the people regardless of the distance and cost. A visit will soon tell if they are legitimate or not.

Do not buy until your see first hand a completed, running and registered build. Drive it. Some cars look good in photo's but are are absolute rubbish to look at and drive.

Spend the money to have a lawyer review the contract before you sign it.

Sounds like spending a lot of money and time for nothing.

I cannot stress enough, you will otherwise regret not doing these things when it all turns turtle.

No just the body, doors, lids etc and everything else I paid for and had delivered. Better than some so I have been told.

Hello Bernie,

Spoke to Jim last night. I am heading over to see Leon in a couple of weeks so I'll see Jim's build first hand. Hopefully I can get back on track as well.
