How ist possible if in Porsche 911 (996) engine and tranny are behind the rear wheels (wheels-tranny-engine) usual setup (engine-tranny-wheels) with 915 or g50 transmission

It means I would end up with rear engine car and not mid right????

You either turn the transmission over and make a few adjustments or you change the ring gear over in the transmission so it drives the opposite side of the pinion gear in the transaxle section. Not sure if this one can be converted or you have to run the trans upside down like you do the G50. This way you get your mid engine setup.

There is a boat load of info over on GT40s.com about various transmissions and how to use them. I have been reading a lot of info over there lately as well.

Cheers
Don

In another post you mentioned you were thinking on using cayman tranny. Cayman tranny doesnt require any changes like other porsche trannies. You only need to get longer select and shift cables and EAMartin can help you with that.
