Post subject: Confirm Audi Trans Model  PostPosted: Jul 22, 2011 - 04:47 PM

I have a line on an Audi transmission for the new Countach build and I just want to confirm the model.

The numbers on the front and rear cases are:

On the front casing: ww0 10 012 301 103 p
On the rear casing: ww0 012 301 211p

I am assuming from the 012 on both that the trans is an 012 version which is the front wheel drive version of the 01A? all wheel drive.

If this is correct, are there any special things I need to do to this trans to ensure it doesn't come apart? I am speaking to things like the plate reinforcement that is done to the 5000s model etc.

I won't be driving hard with the car but I also want to make sure I don't have to worry about the trans once it is in.

Thanks
Don

That transmission is pretty weak. I don't think that there are any upgrades for it but if you check with Scott at Advanced Automotion he can tell you anything you need to know. What engine will you be running with this? I make adapters for several different engines to the Audi and Porsche transmissions.

Thanks for the reply.

I have a choice between 3 engines.
96 3.4 dohc v6
06 N*
3800 series I v6 with a 2 -3 barrel webber downdraft setup

I am not sure which one I will go for since I have or have acces to all of them.

I will talk to Advanced automotion.

Thanks
Don

Does building a kit car means you can play parts from other vehicles and connect them together as long that it works? I've seen a lot of kit cars and you can't even tell if its the original stuff you are looking at.

That's the whole point of "kit cars". You can take components of various other cars and adapt them to work together to make something unique.

In my mind there is nothing "kit" about these builds. They are custom built, if you buy a cobra yeah it's a kit. There is nothing about a lambo that is kit in my mind, you have to make everything fit.

Just my .02 worth carry on

RUNDLC,
I agree 100%. Every part is custom-made, invented or made to fit. Several times!!!
