Does anyone know if a transmission from a Audi A4 1997 would work on a BMW V12 1990 motor/ also any adapter kit for this? The guy on this site said he did it - http://www.v12diablo.co.uk/gearbox.htm.

Building a Murci

thanks
Jeff

I am not sure which transmission the A4 has but if it is the 01E it will work fine. If it is the 012 I probably wouldn't use it as that transmission is rather weak. I make the adapter to mount the BMW engine to the Audi transmissions. You can contact me at eric@kitcarchassis.com

He is using the 012 trans, it is one of the weakest boxes used but they seem to survive well behind the 12 so the the others (016, 01X and 01E) will do a lot better. I, myself am using the 01X 6spd that I have made an adapter for

Check with Scott at Advance Automotion. He imports the 01E.

The 016 came in the audi 5000

The 01X is in the 02-08 A4, A6, S4 & S6

I am not completely sure of all the 01E models but I believe the started around 96 thru 01 in just about all of the models but with all of the Audi boxes make sure that you get the front wheel drive models because the 4wd's cannot take being modified for 2wd use

The 2WD version of the 01E was not used in any of the cars imported to the US. This transmission has to be imported from Europe.
