Hey everyone,
I know someone already posted a similar question to this but mine is a bit more detailed. I am completely new to this and will prbably spend several years just reading about it/learning skills tbefore undertaking one of these projects. Can someone give me their opinion on what is the superior platform to build on? Fiero or tube frame? I am personnaly drawn to the tube frame because I've always thought of Fieros as really junky cars. The Fiero, however, seems like it would be easier because it requires less welding (Something which I've never done but I intend to get in a welding class!) I've also heard the tube frame is capable of taking a higher horse power engine which is appealing to me because, come on, if you're going to have a fake Lambo it should at least actually be fast! Very Happy Here's the frustrating part for me: everyone keeps talking about NAERCS (sp) but I CAN'T find them anywhere! Is there a website or plans floating around and I'm just too dumb to find them? Is their frame just meant for Diablo? Finally, what bodies are you supposed to use? Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

First, welcome to the club.

The Fiero has advantages, you have all of the systems of a car (brakes, wiring, cooling, AC, etc.). Can be a less expensive build because the car can be had relatively cheaply.
The dis-advantages are, older so most of the car will have to be gone thru, suspension replace/ modified, cooling AC etc. Lots of mods to the chassis that will require stiffening of the chassis and wont leave much of the original car.

Having said that the Fiero was the 2nd safest car made in the world during its production history behind the volvo, so it isnt the worst car out there.

Having said that, I went with a tube chassis because I didndt want to chop a fiero to pieces and I wasnt crazy about having to make concessions in my bild (my original goal was 1000hp to the ground).

The decision is personal, get a price list together and figure out if you can live with what it will cost to build each and be honest with what you want/ expect for your car to do. But typically the tube chassis is going to be more expensive
