I have a shifter from a toyaota celica, very compact and easy to mount. I have a NAERC chassis with an oem console.

The Naerc middle fiberlglass tunnel is narrow compared to the oem console. were my shifter sticks up @ is off center compared to were it should be and I can't move it over because of the fiberglass tunnel that's part of the chassis structure.
Does it matter which way you mount the shifter? the orginal mounting had the cables on the drivers side, with my problem I wanted to rotate the shifter so the cable connectors would be on the pass side.
Is there and unforeseen problem with the shifter layout by doing this?

this is the orginal position from the celica

this is how I want to rotate it

The FWD & back throw will be identical but the gate detent will be reversed. If that isn't an issue, you're good to go.
