Hey Guys,

What do you use for creating the black border around the inside of the glass? Paint or something else?

Thanks guys!

Lambo sam I was told to use the black glue used to bond the glass to the frame.
Clean the glass and mask the area you don't want black and spread the glue with a spreader like you use to apply Bondo. This will also act like a "tinning" agent to help the glue to adhere to the glass.

Yep, that's what I was talking about. Use the urethane instead of paint to "paint" the glass. It is black, just like paint, and it sticks really well to the glass. Then when the "paint" is dry and you install the glass, that "paint" is the perfect "tinning" for the glue to bond to the glass.

Hey RT, you are Awesome!!! Thank you so much!

An old credit card works great for spreading! and I also notice it's best to remove tape before it cures.

You did a great job! I forgot to mention the part about removing the tape before it cures but you are smart enough to figure that out.
It looks lie you are getting close to completion if you are installing glass.
Another tip I was told was, when you are cutting the peel-and-stick tape for around the glass, cut it slightly long (by a small amount) so you compress the tape slightly to make it fit. That way if it shrinks it won't produce a gap. Use your judgment but you should get a feel for it.
Test cut the miter corners for a tight fit on some short pieces then use them for a template on the real pieces. Each side may be different. (You know these cars!) That should give you perfect corners.
Really like the pictures.

Thanks! well I still have a ways to go, but just trying to pre-fit and install everything then remove some parts before it goes to paint, this way after paint everything can just go right on with no problems.

Oh yes I know what you mean on the peel and stick outter trim, definitely will do!

I hope this topic can help others on here.

Thanks again RT.

To get clean lines use fine line tape. Same thing they lay out flames with.

Unfortunately the price is as follows

009417107 Lh Upper Window Mounting Frame $262.10
009417102 Rear Rh Side Frame $195.76
009417104 Right Side Glass External Trim $346.98
That's over $800 per side!!!!!! OUCH!!!!!!
And that's per side with the left side being just a tad cheaper

The OEM are made out of metal (Aluminum I think with black powder coat)
On my IFG 60 its just a rubber molding which looks OK but peals off. I need to redo it as it shrank over time.
Any other options out there that other builders have used?

Thanks
CCIE

Yep, as I mentioned I used part OEM and part custom made out of metal, saved me some money, and the bottom trim on the real car and my car is rubber, you need to use urethane window sealant.
