Has anyone else thought about using a chevy 4.3 turbo that came stock in the Syclone and Typhoon? This is what I will use in my kit, they came with 290hp from the factory and ran 13.0's and 12.90's from the factory in these 3800lb trucks.

Adding a bunch of boost and some minor tweeking, these motors make over 400hp, and some guys are running mid and low 11's with all stock stuff and still at 3800lbs.

I just saw on one board a guy bought one with some miles on, but had comp and all wiring for $800.

I just need to find out which tranny they can be mounted to, and what parts it will take to get this done.

The 4.3 has the same trany bolt pattern as any SBC or say an LT1. So I think most people over look them and figure if they are going to have to buy an adapter anyway they may as well put in a larger displacement V-8. I am using a 3.8 v-6 that bolts right up. It makes 200hp stock and withthe better better exhaust and air intake on it I'm sure it will be around 225. I plan to put a super charger off of a newer buick in the future and use a adjustible Vortec FMU to feed the right amount of fuel. I should be getting over 300hp from the light little 6 banger and be able to keep it extemely cheap and simple.
That's just economics talking though. If I had the money it would be a v-8 LT1.

I have a 94 Z28 with an super charged LT1 turning out 650hp that I drag race. The Diablo could use one of those Very Happy

Does this mean that an OBDI LT1 would bolt right in with the stock v6 2.8 fiero tranny???

No, it will not. the SBC, LT1 and the 4.3 all have the same bolt pattern which would require an adapter. the 3.8 has the same bolt pattern as the 2.8 and will bolt to the trans, but you must modify the flywheel of the 3.8 slightly. Check out some Fiero forums they do this stuff all the time and there are tons of parts to make it easier.

3.8 L buick turbos were in late 80's grand nationals and regal T-type vehicles.
They were in the 250 HP range from the factory.

Ken Duttweiler is the man when it comes to tubos. He's produced engines in excess of 1000 Hp.

Unfortunately there is no website that I'm aware of for him.

But if you do a google search you'll find many websites about him and his company Duttweiler performance.
