found a nice drawing if anyone was looking for one.
It's handy if you are sketching how to fit an 016

Mike, are you talking about the shift linkage mounted to the trans or has Mike O created a shifter linkage for the column? If he has I would definitely buy it!! I purchased Mike O's trans shifter and its a work of art!!

1983 thru 1988 Audi 100/200/5000/9000 models:
AAZ / 3V “016” models are the preferred transaxle
be sure that the code is AAZ.

Johnston Auto Salvage USA-NC has one for $200.00
sales@AutoPartsPath.com
1-919-269-4743 1-800-795-9987

if you want a 016 to handle 300+ tq

Do the following or a stock 016 can only handle about 150hp

1) buy a LSD with (4) spider gears like
http://www.autoatlanta.com/detail.php?PartNumber=ROSG944&serial_number=1127322

2) do this modification, pinon bearing retainer steel plate:
http://stweb.peelschools.org/sssweb/TTI-WEB/cars/pictures/AudiTransaxleUpgradeStepbyStep/index.html

3) buy much much stronger custom axles.

Be sure and check the pinion bearing assembly for wear every 10,000 to 30,000 miles
if you are running 300tq+ it will wear out and there is nothing that
can be done to solve this design flaw. http://www.germantransaxle.com/
had a bunch of insight regarding the reliability most of which centered
around bearing wear and runout.

Mike no longer produced the 016 part he designed,
you can reach him here. I wouldn't post someone's email normally
but it's posted several times on this website by Mike O himself.

MikeO current working Email: chassisworksinc@yahoo.com

Sorry to bring a old topic back to the top but I am looking to source a AAZ trans.I found one in europe supposedly its came out of a audi 80 1.8 and has a trans code AAZ just wondering if the engine size matters as far what engine was used with the trans or are the internals the same???The transmission has a hydraulic slave cylinder and shifter rod on the left side of the trans. The rear cover on the end of the trans is made of aluminum. This is out of a audi from europe.
